My North-American list

We’re taking the plane tomorrow, so the time has finally come to stop focussing on everything we had to get done in Holland, and to start browsing ideas for our trip itinerary! I’ve kept a list of things I would still like to do or see once in North America. Some of the things I’ve already done once, but would love to see again. Whether it will happen this trip, I don’t know (definitely not everything), but it’s nice to have a little bucket list.

Then again I feel that our trip is not about crossing things off my list, but about traveling around beautiful scenery, discovering places I hadn’t heard of before, living in a sense of freedom and just basically enjoying life. The list is a nice compass though!

My North American ‘to do’ list

• Live the Indian summer in the Laurentians, Canada
• Visit Fort Bragg (the glass beach) in California
• Celebrate National Donut Day (June 5th)
• Take a morning walk through Central Park
• Do a foodie tour in Vancouver
• Go snorkeling in Key Largo, Florida
• See the Grand Canyon
• Take a dip in the Hamilton Pool Preserve in Texas
• Eat some jelly beans at the Jelly Bean Factory in California
• Go trick and treating for Halloween (and make Lucie a little suit)
• Walk on cooled down lava flows in Hawaii
• Eat Mexican food in California (I know, not as good as the real deal, but close!)
• Take a scenic drive through Big Sur
• Eat clam chowder / key lime pie / cronuts / mac&cheese
• Visit a concert of Gretchen Parlato / Bon Iver / Hanson (owe that one to my former teenage self)
• Take a hike through Banff National Park
• See the northern lights in Yellowknife, Canada
• Go see the 4th of July fireworks
• Tour Marvel Cave (Missouri)
• Have a tour through Ben&Jerry’s ice cream factory
• Visit a sugar shack in Quebec (maple syrup celebration)
• Discover some local food festivals

As you can see there’s still plenty of things I could add to my list, can’t wait to discover!
